Deals: Samsung Galaxy A25 and A15 5G first discounts, Apple iPad (2022) price cut

The Samsung Galaxy A25 and A15 5G arrived in the U.S. a month ago and are already receiving first-time discounts. The A25 is eligible for 4 major operating system updates and a total of 5 years of security patches. Yes, there are Android devices that cost more, but how many cost $265?

For that money you get a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, the old Exynos 1280 chipset (not ideal, but it has 5G), 128GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot, a 50+8+2MP camera and a 5,000 cameras. mAh battery with 25W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy A15 5G only received 3 major OS updates and 4 years of patches. Still, it’s better than any $175 phone. Otherwise, it’s similar to the A25 but with some downgrades, such as a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that runs at 90Hz. Additionally, the Dimensity 6100+ chipset is slower than the Exynos and cannot record 4K video, and the ultrawide camera has a 5MP sensor. The phone also has expandable storage, and both phones have stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack. Note that neither phone has an IP rating.

For comparison with the A25, here’s the OnePlus Nord N30 which is priced around the same. OnePlus’s update policy is more limited – only one major OS update and 3 years of patches. Keep in mind that the N30 launched with Android 13, so its one update will be Android 14. Meanwhile, both Galaxy models start with Android 14.

The N30 has some advantages, though. We know some people prefer IPS LCD to AMOLED, and the Nord has a large 6.72-inch FHD+ 120Hz panel. It also has a 108MP main camera and a large 1/1.67” sensor, but there are no other cameras of note on the back. Additionally, the Snapdragon 695 cannot record 4K video. At least it is efficient, and the phone is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, It lasts a long time and can be charged quickly at 50W (a full charge takes 47 minutes compared to 84 minutes for the A25).

A month ago, the Apple iPad (2022) was selling for $410 for the 64GB model and $560 for the 256GB model (both cases were Wi-Fi only). Now those prices are $60 lower – $350 and $500 respectively.

Although it’s a year and a half old, this tablet has a USB-C port so it can use the same charger as the iPhone 15. Additionally, the Apple A14’s performance is good enough, and Apple’s long-term software support is excellent.

Another product that year was the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022). The 64GB Wi-Fi model is down to $200, making it only $10 more than the Galaxy Tab A9+. The Tab S6 Lite supports DeX, which is great for multitasking. It’ll get a total of four operating system updates (it’s already had two, Android 13 and 14) and five years of security patches, so it’s old but still very relevant.

Just a few weeks ago, the Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, aluminum) was selling for $380 for the 45mm model and $350 for the 41mm model. Now, the prices of both products have dropped by $30 to $350 and $320 respectively.

The price of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is still quite high, although it’s currently $50 cheaper than usual. There’s only one model, the 49mm, with cellular connectivity, but you can choose between multiple bands depending on what you’ll be doing most of your time (scuba, running, indoor workouts, etc.).
