Rick and Morty: Animation Still awaiting confirmation of a release date, but Adult Swim is at least giving us another look at it.
Back in December, Rick and Morty: The Animation was set to have a very wide release window of sometime in 2024, and that window hasn’t narrowed in the months since. Even now, all we know is that the show will be released this year, which is at least good news since Rick and Morty Season 8 won’t air until 2025, but yesterday Adult Swim did share another A preview, this time focusing on “Space Beth.” You can check out the full preview below, and to be honest, I think it already looks a lot more interesting than the original show.
A curse that hangs over many Western adult animated shows is that they rarely seem to achieve truly high-quality animation. That’s not to say that the animation in Rick and Morty is bad, I just think that a lot of the time the animation itself isn’t very interesting, especially the action-based sequences. The preview above shows Space Beth’s face-off with Tammy and packs a lot of fun action into a short window.

Not surprisingly, this is also one hell of an anime, so at least the title lives up to its name. I also think the fight scenes were probably mostly done in 3D, considering how difficult it is to turn 2D characters into 3D without them looking weird in motion (looking at you, muscular Fortnite Peter Griffin), which is pretty impressive.
The series also has a strong crew, with Takashi Sano returning to direct his previous Rick and Morty animated shorts “Rick and Morty vs. the Genocide” and “Summer Meets God” (“Rick Meets God”). Evil”) in the 10-episode series. For now, though, you’ll just have to wait patiently for the release date.
