final fantasy 14The next extension of road to dawn, will be released on June 28th (for pre-orders only). I’m looking forward to it. There’s just one problem – I haven’t finished the last expansion yet, final walker. Yes, I know it was released at the end of 2021, but time just got away from me and I dropped off in the middle of the expansion. As of this writing, the date is April 3rd.This gives me 85 days to complete final walker and its patches. This requires a significant change in strategy, which I hope will help me accomplish my mission: I’m switching my platform of choice from PC to PS5.
I play games for a reason final fantasy 14 I’ve been playing this game on PC since I first played it four years ago: it’s an MMO. The various moves and actions you have to perform simultaneously in a large dungeon or raid feel like they were tailor-made for keyboard and mouse. Being in control has always felt too oppressive, especially in my stressful job as a white mage (healer role). But one of the biggest obstacles I face when trying to complete my mission final walker It’s my computer itself. I just wasn’t in the mood to sit at my desk for hours because I was in a rush to finish the expansion.
The crux of the matter is final fantasy 14task design. As an MMO, most of the game’s main scenario missions are pretty mundane, at least mechanically.Although there are wonderful combat encounters final walker, There are only 9 main scenario dungeons or trials, spread over 108 missions. This means that most missions will send your hero – the Warrior of Light – from one point on the map to another, sometimes to kill an enemy or two, sometimes to collect items, and sometimes just to interact with people chat. The conversation is the best part because that’s the story I’m here to experience. But the time in between was mostly mundane. To me, doing “mundane” things while sitting in an uncomfortable office chair isn’t fun (that’s its own problem). I want to do this from the comfort of my couch. Thankfully, I was able to buy the PS5 version of the game when it was released.
Even though I hate playing with a controller, the promise of leisurely relaxation on the couch attracted me. This is the easy part. But just like switching works within the game itself, switching to a different input method (in this case, the DualSense controller) essentially meant I had to relearn everything. Progress is slow and sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it.The main problem is that I’m still trying to set up my crossbar In a way that matches the way I play. Cross hotkeys are how console players trigger actions. As opposed to a row of actions on PC that use different keybinds to click, the crosshair hotbar looks like two plus signs side by side, with room for action in each corner. It is designed to reflect the D-pad and face buttons to which the action is bound. As for transferring the complexity of an MMO to a controller, that’s pretty neat, but it’s still a learning curve. My first 24 hours with the PS5 version were mostly spent tinkering with settings and tweaking the cross-key shortcuts.
But after getting over the natural growing pains associated with it, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the platform change has worked. Especially for sports, I appreciate the ease of use of the controller. While WASD and a mouse certainly don’t make travel difficult, it’s just a little more complicated than simply using a joystick. Now I find myself completing the game’s tasks more easily. My couch was indeed as comfortable as I remembered and I loved lying on it exploring the beautiful views of Elpis and the Labyrinth. Most missions aren’t very combat-intensive, so even if I faced a brief battle, my sluggish reactions on the cross hotkey wouldn’t be a big deal. It makes the game a lot smoother, which is what I need right now. When I need to watch a cutscene or read some important dialogue, I usually switch off my brain and then switch back on.It turns out final walker Pretty good, who knew?
Where I still feel the console version falls behind is in dungeons and trials. When I do get into these more intense fights, I still find myself switching back to my computer so I can perform best on my team.Sure, I could use a squad of NPCs via the on-duty support system and use a bunch of bots to run the sections, but it would be a lot of fun to play final fantasy 14 Interacting with other players. That’s why I also started connecting a Bluetooth keyboard to my console so I can type messages.Other features of the PC version that I miss dearly are the things director Yoshi-P had frown But I still find it useful.
So, this leap has its pros and cons, but overall, switching to PS5 has made me appreciate the different ways people play the game. Now, as I expected road to dawn, I can’t help but think that I’ll be switching back and forth between PC and PS5 for the upcoming expansion as well.
