Bundles and packages are advanced features that enable inspection of multiple assets with a single operation.
Packages involve clamping assets together so that they are always checked out and in together. In contrast, a bundle is a set of assets and inventory that may be inspected for a specific activity.
1. When to use packages
Use packages when you always need to perform the same operation on a set of assets. For example, a GPS tracker bolted to the dashboard of a truck. If the GPS tracker is asset #1 and the truck is asset #2, the two assets will always be checked out, checked in, and retained together. If the GPS tracker is permanently damaged, it can be removed from the truck and a new one installed. This is the perfect scenario where packages should be used.
Packages can also be used in situations where assets are not actually connected to each other but are still checked out/in together. For example, items needed to run team meetings. Now, you can package them together if you plan to use them together all the time. Assets in a package cannot be checked in/out individually. Here is a screenshot of the package used for the event.

2. When to use Bundles
Bundles are used to create a loose association of asset types and can include inventory and assets. For example, if you need equipment for a physical education lecture, you are not concerned about the specific project itself but rather the equipment that is assigned to you. For such situations, bundles come in handy.
Let’s say you want a bundle for giving a lecture that requires an interactive whiteboard, projector, and microphone. You can add these resources to your bundle. Now you can view this bundle whenever you do the same lecture again. You can also add bundled inventory.

assets only | Can own assets and inventory at the same time |
You can perform any operation on the assets in the package. | You can only view and reserve bundles. You can do this by adding the bundle to your cart. |
All assets are checked out, checked in, retained, etc. together. If an asset is no longer associated with a package, the package should be redefined. | Bundles are flexible. You can change the assets you want from the specified group. You can also delete assets or inventory before checkout. |
Accurate assets are named, and asset groups and subgroups are named. | For operations, the bundle pulls available assets from these groups/subgroups based on the quantities specified in the bundle. Accurate inventory items are named. |
