Honor Magic 6 Pro hands-on review

HONOR has just launched its latest Magic 6 Pro flagship smartphone to the global market, and we’ve already got our hands on it. Here are our first impressions!

Porsche Design Honor Magic 6 RSR

Following the launch of Magic V2 RSR in cooperation with Porsche Design, Honor has launched a new version of Magic 6 in cooperation with Porsche Design. In terms of design, the new Magic 6 RSR adopts Porsche’s signature hexagonal camera layout and a central raised ridge to provide better grip. It’s made of titanium and comes in two colors: Onyx Gray (inspired by the Porsche 911) and Frozen Berry (inspired by the Porsche Taycan).

The Magic 6 RSR is also more durable than the standard model, with IP68 dust and water resistance, and HONOR’s proprietary NanoCrystal Shield on the front and back for enhanced glass protection. The camera setup has also been upgraded, with the main sensor being a 50MP HONOR Falcon Camera H9800 with better HDR compared to the standard version. There’s also a LiDAR matrix autofocus system for fast and accurate focus, perfect for capturing fast-moving scenes.

But the biggest difference seems to be in the display. HONOR Magic 6 RSR uses the industry’s first dual-layer OLED tandem display. Compared with ordinary OLED panels, the display is more durable, has a 600% longer service life, and provides brighter visuals and higher energy efficiency.

Beyond that, the Magic 6 RSR is a powerful smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 1TB of internal storage and 24GB of RAM and a suite of on-device AI features, including support for HONOR’s Magic Portal. The RSR version also comes with a larger 5,600 mAh battery compared to the 5,450 mAh battery in the standard version, and has faster 80W wired charging. HONOR plans to launch Magic 6 RSR globally in the second quarter of 2024.

Honor says the design of the Magic 6 Ultimate is inspired by luxury car interiors.

Like the other versions, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with built-in AI capabilities. However, there is one feature that is unique to the Magic 6 Ultimate, and that is the two-way satellite communication function. However, the Magic 6 Ultimate is currently only available in the Chinese market.

After debuting the MagicBook Pro 16 at MWC 2024, Honor has now officially launched the laptop as well as the new Magic 6 series of mobile phones.
